OMS faz novo apelo ao fim da "vergonhosa" desigualdade na distribuição de vacinas

A OMS pede que a situação se reverta antes de outubro, mostrando, mais uma vez, preocupação com os países em desenvolvimento que lutam para imunizar populações vulneráveis.

A Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) exortou os 20 líderes mundiais mais poderosos a reverterem o "vergonhoso" desequilíbrio global no acesso às vacinas contra a Covid-19 até outubro deste ano.
De acordo com a agência France-Presse (AFP), Bruce Aylward da OMS disse que o mundo deveria estar "enojado" - e questionou se a situação poderia ter sido ainda pior se tivesse havido um esforço ativo para bloquear os pobres do planeta de serem vacinados.
Segundo o The Guardian, a agência de saúde da ONU tem estado cada vez mais enfurecida com o que vê como o escândalo moral dos países ricos a açambarcarem o fornecimento de vacinas enquanto as nações em desenvolvimento lutam para imunizar as suas populações mais vulneráveis.
Aylward, o “frontman” da OMS no acesso aos instrumentos para combater a pandemia do novo coronavírus, exortou as pessoas a dizerem aos políticos e aos magnatas das empresas que era eleitoral e financeiramente seguro aumentar a cobertura vacinal nas nações mais pobres.
